'A New Normal' winners revealed
14 October 2020
The winners of our ‘A New Normal’ photography competition have been chosen and presented with their prizes.
The competition ran throughout the summer and entrants were invited to submit an image that best captured their experiences of life during lockdown. What does the ‘new normal’ look like?
We were thrilled with the quality and quantity of the entries we received and the range of topics they covered. Our winners were recently presented with their prizes at The Box by Engagement Officer, Tony Davey.
Take a look at the three winning images and find out what each of our photographers had to say about them.
15 years and under
The winner of the '15 years and under' category is 9 year old Chance Peters. His image is called ‘Long Walks’.
I have a keen interest in photography. Since lockdown I go for more walks with my family to take photos. Sometimes I don't like going for long walks but finding beautiful places make it worth it.

16-25 years
The winner in our '16-25 years' category is Tamara Raw whose entry reflects the current times perfectly.
When doing a dawn walk with my camera, I noticed this in the water. A glove. It's not the first time, it won't be the last. We were told to stay in. We didn't. We were told to be kind. We weren't. We were told to wear masks. We refused. Mother Nature is being poisoned after we tried to help her heal.

Over 25 years
The winner of our 'Over 25 years' category is Portia Crossley with her image, ‘Disinfecting the Shopping Bags’.
I think the first time it hit me quite how serious this pandemic is, was when I looked out my window and saw my neighbour disinfecting her shopping bags on the washing line! Now it is the 'new normal!
Portia Crossley, winner of the 'Over 25 years' category
Chance was presented with a large goody bag full of wonderful items from our shop. Tamara and Portia were presented with £200 each. Their images will be displayed in our ‘Photo Album’ gallery in 2021.
Thank you to everyone who took the time and effort to enter the competition. We're looking forward to displaying the winning images alongside a selection of other entries for all our visitors to see next year.
