Spotlight on Libby Bove
Libby Bove is an artist whose practice is deeply rooted in archival methodologies, folklore, and documentary storytelling. She has been awarded a digital commission for the Reimagining the Film Archive (RtFA) programme that will draw on the rich traditions of folklore, mythology, and archival research. The final piece will be showcased in the Media Lab Gallery in March 2025, alongside the 'John Lyons: Carnivalesque' exhibition.

Spotlight on Tyler Mellins
Tyler Mellins is an artist whose work often revolves around the themes of loss, memory, and time. He has been awarded a digital commission for the Reimagining the Film Archive (RtFA) programme that will explore the theme of Surrealism. His work will be showcased in the Media Lab Gallery in parallel to the 'Forbidden Territories: 100 Years of Surreal Landscapes' exhibition in March 2025.

Spotlight on Imperfect Cinema
Imperfect Cinema is a socially engaged collective for film, sound and moving image. They’ve produced and facilitated the creation of over 700 films, micro-cinema events, festivals, symposia and screenings, and produced and facilitated filmmaking workshops and screenings across the UK and internationally. They’ve also produced 'RE/POSIT/ORY', the new five-screen film currently showing on the screens in The Box’s Media Lab gallery, which examines the role of the archive. We caught up with co-founders Allister and Dan to ask them some questions.

Sharing Practice: Cinema Rediscovered 2024
The Box's Media Archivist, Stacey Anderson and Reimagining the Film Archive Discovery Media Assistant, Zahra Khanum were recently invited to be part of an 'Opening up the Archive' panel discussion, alongside colleagues from the BFI National Archive. The event was part of 'Cinema Rediscovered 2024' in Bristol - Watershed’s annual festival dedicated to the rediscovery and revival of great films.
