Carnivalesque in the Far South West

In response to the 'John Lyons: Carnivalesque' exhibition, this series of displays in the Active Archives gallery on the first floor of The Box explores Carnival and related traditions in Plymouth, Devon and beyond. It looks at the links between street performance and resistance/activism, highlighting folklore, folk song, music, morris dancing, parades and more. Carnival is a living tradition, always changing with the times.
