Our next screening as part of our public programme for 'The Triumph of Art' is a double bill of films by Jeremy Deller. 'Putin’s Happy' (2019) and 'English Magic' (2013) were made during a period that radically shaped the socio-political climate we find ourselves in today. Both films interrogate British identity in the years leading up to the 2016 EU referendum and its aftermath.

This event is part of The Triumph of Art, a nationwide project by artist Jeremy Deller, commissioned by the National Gallery, London, as part of NG200, its Bicentenary celebrations. The Triumph of Art is being developed in partnership with Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, Mostyn in Llandudno, The Box Plymouth and The Playhouse in Derry-Londonderry.
