Teacher's CPD: Ancient Egypt and Decolonisation

17 Jul 2024 - 17 Jul 2024

Over the coming year The Box is undertaking a critical analysis of the links between colonisation and climate crisis within our collections and displays. As part of this we're holding a free event for teachers and educators to explore and provide feedback on decolonisation themes within our collections and support new critical thinking and teaching approaches within the curriculum.

Join curator Fiona Pitt and renowned Egyptologist and historian Professor Aidan Dodson (University of Bristol) for a behind the scenes look at our Egyptian collection. You'll explore artefacts, discovering the origins of Plymouth’s collection and learn how these objects connect to colonisation and empire.

Participants will then join Learning Officer Adam Murray to discover key objects connected to decolonisation in the 100 Journeys gallery with the opportunity to feedback on how best the collections can support your curriculum and pedagogical approaches.

Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment! To request further information or to book please email [email protected].
