The Triumph of Art
08 Feb 2025 - 26 Jul 2025
'The Triumph of Art' by artist Jeremy Deller is an exciting nationwide performance that rounds off the National Gallery's Bicentenary celebrations. It marks how festivals are part and parcel of art, culture and civic life, and celebrates the role art plays in our public collections, cultural spaces and museums. We're running a series of events as part of the project over the next few months. Find out more below!

8 February-5 May: We are proud to be displaying a selection of banners from Jeremy Deller's 2013 work, English Magic.
I searched for form and land; For years and years I roamed is a lyric from ‘The Man Who Sold the World’, Bowie’s song that the Melodians cover in the English Magic film. These were first produced for the British Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2013. They hung on either side of the entrance to the pavilion. I always thought these lyrics had an Old Testament feel to them.
