Reimagining the Film Archive

Reimagining the Film Archive

The Box's Reimagining the Film Archive is a three-year programme (2023-2026) made possible with thanks to the National Lottery and the BFI Screen Heritage Fund.

This programme is intended to be transformative. Through digital commissions, workforce developments and participatory volunteering opportunities, and the delivery of research projects to enable a deeper exploration into the collections, we hope to strengthen the archive's resilience and sustainability through greater diversity and representation whilst also reducing our carbon footprint in how we care for and manage the moving image collections.

The RtFA programme has been devised in direct response to The Box’s new vision – to reimagining the future through the past and in response to our values to be connected, progressive, curious and relevant. We hope to identify and address gaps in the collection that reflect under-represented identities, with the aim of ensuring that everyone can connect and resonate with the collections.
